Wakayama|Travel Guide


Wakayama is a city in Japan's Kansai region. It's located on the west of Osaka enclosed by the Pacific ocean. There are many sacred places to hang around in Wakayama. You can hang around there on foot or by bus. For using the bus you need a one day pass which costs around 1300 Yen.




Sanadabeki cliff 
   Sandabeki cliff is a popular resort town in Shirahama. The word Sandabeki means a viewing platform. Earlier, this cliff was considered as a dangerous spot because of the invasion of pirates. And 36 meters beneath there is a cave which was used by the pirates and now its renewed as navy guardhouse. And the entrance fee to the cave is 1300 Yen.


Senjojiki
The word literally means "one thousand tatami mats" where we can enjoy the sea from the extreme points of flat bedrocks.

Shirahama Beach
  Shirahama Beach is a white sand beach with crystalline clear blue water. Its also known as "sister beach" of Waikiki beach in Hawai. We can do many activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving during the summer season.

Engetsu Island
Engetsu is a small island off the coast of Shirahama. Its official name was Takashima later known as Engetsu. Here the main tourist attraction is a natural arch which seawater passes. And the hole has been formed as the effect of waves and wind. Through this hole, we can watch the spectacular view of sunset.
